We Are Experts in Geotechnics


Simpro is a Tunisian engineering consulting firm specializing in geotechnical engineering. It was officially established in 2008, following two prior periods in business incubators. The first incubation was at the University of Tunis El Manar from 2005 to 2007, and the second was at the Carthage Innovation Incubator from 2008 to 2010. The founder of Simpro is Professor Mounir Bouassida.

Professor Mounir Bouassida is a professor of civil engineering at the National Engineering School of Tunis (University of Tunis El Manar). He is the director of the Geotechnical Engineering and Geo-Risk Research Laboratory. His research focuses on soil improvement techniques and the behavior of soft clays. Dr. Bouassida received the Prakash Prize for Excellence in Geotechnical Practice in 2006. He launched Simpro in 2008.

Professor Bouassida served as the Vice President for Africa of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) from 2005 to 2009. He is currently an appointed member of the ISSMGE (2017-2021) and is responsible for the virtual university program. In 2019, he was appointed a member of the International “Press-In” Association.

INNOVATION

The SIMPRO team has focused on innovation to enhance its technical expertise with greater professionalism. SIMPRO has developed the Columns and GSVDrain software to optimize soil improvement solutions using columns and vertical drains. Currently, to better analyze soil-structure interaction problems, software is under development.
